Top 10 Features expected in Windows 8

Top 10 Features expected in Windows 8

 Windows 8 is the successor of Windows 7, that was one of the most successful Operating System by the technology giant Microsoft. One of the reason of Windows 7′s success was the new features that were introduced in this operating system, which included advancement in handwriting recognition,  new and improved taskbar, support for virtual hard disks and many more. Windows 8 like its predecessor is also expected to have many new features so here is a list of top ten features that are expected to be featured in this that would be making its way to our computers in 2012.

1) Improved Touch Screen Gestures

Windows 7 was launched with the support of Touch Screen but it would be Windows 8 actually that would work smoothly on the touch screen devices because of its great touch screen gestures and effects.

2) Biometric Support / Facial Recognition

Windows 8 is expected to feature inbuilt Biometric Password Login support which means that you would be able to use your finger print, eyes  or face for logging into windows which not only would make your system more secure but would also make logging into the operating system a fun experience.
3) Faster Startup with Hybrid Booting

It is never easy to wait for Windows to load up to the welcome screen every time we turn on the PC, Windows Vista used to make us wait for about 40 seconds. Windows 7 however improved it and reduced the time to lead you to welcome screen but that was not fast enough so with Windows 8, Microsoft is expected to introduce Hybrid booting that would make booting real quick.

4) Blue Screen of Death replaced by Black Screen

I am not really sure if we can call it a feature but it definitely is an interesting improvement. The famous Blue Screen of Death would be replaced by a Black Screen in Windows 8 which obviously looks less annoying than the blue one.

5) Mounting Support for ISOs and VHDs

Windows 8 is expected to support mounting ISOs and VHDs. So now you would not need to purchase ISO software, it would already available in Windows 8. Right Click is all you would need.

6) Aura glass Ability / Aero Aurora Auto Colorization

Windows 8 would also feature ability for the Aero Glass color to be changed depending on the dominant color of the Desktop Wallpaper. It is worth mentioning that Windows 7 had the similar behavior but only for the taskbar buttons.

7) Improved PC Gaming

Most of us now think that PC has taken a backseat in the gaming world. People at Microsoft however have some other plans for us because Windows 8 would be representing a real new push into PC gaming and giving it a new way of performance. The graphic performance of Windows 8 is expected to be better than any other operating system by Microsoft which could attract many potential gamers back to their computers.

8) Multiple Desktops

Windows 8 according to some rumors is also expected to feature Multiple Desktops, we have already seen many third party softwares doing that for previous versions of Windows however built-in support would obviously make it a more user friendly experience and would also bring many improvements to the idea.

9) Windows 8 Driver locker

The thing people hate most about installing/reinstalling Windows is that they have to search for drivers, download them and then install them after the installation of operating system. It not only takes alot of time but sometime people come across different compatibility problems. Windows 8 is expected to have a solution for all of this. This upcoming operating system by Microsoft would feature a Driver Locker that would hunt down all the drivers and bring them back to full working order. It would be Online Driver Locker where backup of these drivers would be saved.

10) Drag and Drop Icons

Rumors also suggest that Windows 8 will feature a new and improved Drag & Drop feature in Windows Explorer that would make moving files easy for users.

So which one is your favorite of them......?

Things You Didn't Know About Coconuts

Things You Didn't Know About Coconuts

That coconuts are one of the wonder foods on earth that amply provides for all human needs? They can even save your life!

Few people (even fewer doctors) understand how important the coconut is to stabilizing blood sugar; lowering cholesterol; healing; hydration; and even replacing blood plasma in an emergency.

Referred to as kalpa vriksha (Sanskrit for "the tree that supplies all that is needed to live") in ancient India, the coconut palm has been recognized as a top immune booster, antifungal,antibiotic, antiviral and antibacterial remedy for thousands of years all over the world. Yet, it has only been recently that modern researchers have begun to fully discover the massive health benefits this amazing fruit seed offers.

To give just one example of coconuts' live-saving properties, they were used extensively in the Pacific during World War II. Since blood plasma supplies were scarce, it was very common for medics to siphon pure coconut water from young coconuts to be used as emergency plasma transfusions for soldiers who were injured. Since coconut water is nearly identical to human blood, it was suitable for people of all blood types.

Because of its strong antioxidant properties, the coconut can be used to:
==> Lower cholesterol
==> Improve digestion
==> Ward off wrinkles
==> Stabilize glucose levels
==> Fight off viruses
==> Build cells
==> Regulate hormones
==> Increase thyroid production
==> Lose weight
==> Increase metabolism
==> Fight infections
==> Stave off memory loss
==> Kill bacteria
==> And more!

Considered one of the most treasured foods of all time, coconut products -- including coconut flesh, coconut water, coconut oil, and coconut cream -- each deliver superb health benefits.
Coconut oil, for instance, is considered the best and safest oil to use for cooking -- even superior to extra virgin olive oil when it comes to giving the body what it needs for optimum health. Unlike other fats and oils that we typically use for cooking and baking, coconut oil does not form polymerized oils or dangerous Trans fatty acids in our bodies, which can raise our cholesterol levels; clog our arteries and even make our skin sag and wrinkle. Plus, this ultra-safe oil can give your body important antioxidants that can help build stronger cells and improve your overall health and well being.

Here are a few ways that you can use coconut products to stave off disease and to recapture the look and feeling of youth:

Coconut Water - The coconut is a natural water filter. It takes almost 9 months for a coconut to filter every quart of water stored within its shell. This makes the resulting coconut water completely pure and sterile, which is one reason why it can be used for blood transfusions.
Another benefit of coconut water is the fact that it has the highest concentration of electrolytes than anything else found in nature. This makes it an excellent source of hydration.

Coconut Oil - In addition to being superior for cooking and baking, coconut oil also makes a superb topical oil that can help to naturally rid the skin of dangerous toxins. It also gives the skin the perfect mix of hydration and antioxidants that it needs to stay healthy, smooth and younger-looking longer.

Another great benefit of coconut oil is in protecting your teeth from the bacteria that can cause cavities and disease. Simply rubbing a little fresh coconut oil on your gums and teeth can keep them stronger and healthier than virtually any other dental treatment.

Most people don't realize that coconut oil can actually help you lose weight! Yes, simply changing your cooking oil from the unsaturated fat variety to coconut oil can help you lose those extra pounds. Here's why: Unsaturated fats found in canola, corn and other vegetables oils, as well as margarine suppress the metabolism, which makes it harder to lose weight -- and easier to gain it. Over time, this metabolism suppression may result in 20-30 pounds of excess weight that your body cannot get rid of. Coconut oil, on the other hand, helps to increase thyroid function and boost your metabolism -- 2 important components to shedding unwanted pounds.

Coconut Cream - The best skin treatment product one can use to achieve flawless skin may quite possibly be coconut cream. Unlike traditional skin creams which can actually introduce fats and oils to the skin that will break it down over time, making it look older, creams derived from the coconut can actually replenish the skin, giving it a more youthful and healthy glow than most other skin care products on the market.

When it comes to buying coconut products, coconuts are not all created equal. Wild coconuts are always best, but can be hard to obtain if you don't live in a tropical country. Whether you are using this wonder food to boost your immune system; increase your metabolism or fight wrinkles, using products from young coconuts will help you reap the most benefit.

Young coconuts contain the purest unsaturated fat, compared to the fat found in the more mature varieties. This is why they offer the most rejuvenation properties for the body's tissues. But how can you tell how old a coconut is? Young coconuts are usually green in color and oddly shaped. The brown hairy ones are mature coconuts, and while they offer a lot of healthy benefits, they aren't nearly as good for you as younger varieties.

The best place to find young fresh coconuts is, of course, in the markets of the tropics, so be sure to seek them out if you travel to those areas. Coconut-producing regions export coconuts all over the world, however, so it's relatively easy to find coconuts at your local health food store or Asian grocer.

Ubuntu 11.04 - Natty Narwhal Review

Ubuntu 11.04 - Natty Narwhal Review

The naming of Ubuntu 11.04 was announced on 17 August 2010 by Mark Shuttleworth. Its release is planned for 28 April 2011. Ubuntu Desktop will use the Unity user interface instead of GNOME Shell as default. The move to Unity is controversial as some GNOME developers fear it will fracture the community and marginalize GNOME Shell.
Ubuntu 11.04 will use Banshee as the default music player, replacing Rhythmbox. Other new applications will include Mozilla Firefox 4 and LibreOffice, which has replaced OpenOffice.org.
Starting with Ubuntu 11.04 the Ubuntu Netbook Edition has been merged into the desktop edition.

There has been many changes in the Default application selection in the upcoming Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal from Ubuntu 10.10. Here’s some new features:
- Unity as been confirmed as default for Ubuntu 11.04 – desktop edition, the desktop version will use the global menu (AppMenu).

- LibreOffice will likely be included in next version of Ubuntu if it’s ready
- Firefox 4 is still favored over Chrome as the default browser in Ubuntu. Chrome still poses too many challenges for Ubuntu (the release cycle doesn’t fit well with Ubuntu Update model and also there are issues with the Global Menu integrations and so on).
- The decision to replace Evolution with Thunderbird in Ubuntu has been deferred. Hopefully Thunderbird will be ready in a cycle or two (it misses a calendar, exchange support, integration with appmenu and messaging menu).
- Banshee will be included by default in Ubuntu 11.04 (and thus replace Rhythmbox)
- Oneconf will be included by default in Ubuntu 11.04. OneConf is a mechanism for recording software information in Ubuntu One, and synchronizing with other computers as needed.
- Gnome-dictionary will be removed from the CD
- Nautilus Elementary was also brought up for discussion, but was rejected “because the patches are considered hacks”.
- In Natty Narwhal Software Center “For Purchase” category will be updated with more commercial software. And you will be able to sponsor your favorite app by donating any money amount to developers.

Internet Explorer 9 Released: Here’s What You Need To Know

Internet Explorer 9 Released: Here’s What You Need To Know

Microsoft has released the final version of Internet Explorer 9, and there’s just one question you should be asking yourself: Should I bother installing it? Here’s everything you need to know about the latest release of Microsoft’s infamous browser.
Spoiler alert: If you are running Windows 7 or Vista, you should absolutely install IE9 on your PC—even if you prefer Chrome or Firefox, it’s better to have a secure, updated version of Internet Explorer

What’s New in Internet Explorer 9?

If you want to see the full list of changes with all the original marketing detail, you can read Microsoft’s Beauty of the Web page, but here’s the highlights that you might be interested in.
  • Completely New Interface – as you can see in the screenshot above, there’s a completely new interface, designed from the ground up to save space on the screen—in fact, it uses even less pixels than Google Chrome.
  • Hardware Acceleration – IE9 is the first browser that taps into the power of your video card to make everything faster, by default. This browser is blazing fast, all around.
  • Pinned Sites – While Google Chrome might have started out with their web applications concept, IE9 takes it to another level by allowing site owners to customize the menus for sites pinned to the Windows 7 taskbar.
  • HTML5 Support – Microsoft has finally learned from their past mistakes, and focused on getting I.E. to the point of compliance with Internet standards. There’s a lot of whiners out there that say Microsoft didn’t make it work well enough, but I think it’s a good first step.
  • Combined Search / Address Bar – IE9 integrates the two boxes together into one, and even adds search suggestions that work quite well, similar to Google Chrome’s combined omnibox.
There’s a ton of other, smaller, features below the hood, but these are the most interesting features. I’ve also highlighted some of them in screenshots below.
You probably want to get to the screenshots, but first, here’s a couple of answers to questions you haven’t asked yet.
  • No, Internet Explorer 9 does not work on Windows XP.
  • Yes, you can install IE9 over top of the beta version if you had that installed.
  • Yes, If you have 32-bit Windows, you should install the 32-bit version.
  • Yes, If you have 64-bit Windows, you should install the 64-bit version (which includes the 32-bit version). Yes, you should upgrade to this version.
  • Yes, if you click this link it will take you to the download page.

Where Can You Download It?

I’ll have to assume that eventually Microsoft will offer IE9 through Windows Update, but for the moment, you’ll need to click the following link to download IE9. Remember to pick the right version for your operating system.

The new combined search/address bar is smart, and it’ll provide interesting suggestions right there in the browser itself. One of my favorites is the weather checker, which actually shows an image based on what’s going on outside. You know, cause looking out the window isn’t very geeky.

If you don’t like the combined Address Bar and Tabs on the same row, you can right-click on any of the tabs and choose “Show tabs on a separate row”. Note that you can also drag the divider between the address bar and the tabs to resize the address bar.

I totally stole this screenshot from Microsoft’s marketing page, since it does a great job of showing how the pinned sites feature works. Just drag the tab for any site to the taskbar, and voila! New pinned tab with a fun icon! Right-click on that tab, and you’ve got a custom jump list… at least, if that site has implemented the I.E.-specific features.

IE9 has what could essentially be considered “FlashBlock” built right in—just head to Safety-> ActiveX Filtering, and turn it on from there…

From now on, whenever you go to a site that tries to use an ActiveX control like Flash, you’ll have to click the little icon in the address bar to enable it. Awesome!

There’s a lot more features, but we’re not going to bother with screenshots. Why? Because you should install it and see for yourself!
For the record, I’m a Mozilla Firefox user, and while I do really like the new IE9, I’m sticking with Firefox… but I still recommend that you install IE9 on your PC if you possibly can. There’s just no need to have an insecure IE8 sitting around, and even if you turn off Internet Explorer, there’s still a ton of applications that utilize the underlying components, and you should consider installing it the same as patching your PC for the latest security holes.
